THREE VOLUMES. Large 8vo. 10 x 8 inches. Volume I, xix + [i] + 381 pp; Volume II, vii + [i] + 384 pp.; Volume III, vii + [i] + 384 pp. Title pages in red and black. Bound in original brown linen buckram, gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust wrappers, which have edge wear at head and tail of spines, which are slightly darkened with ink, etc. stains on rear wrappers. Top edges gilt. Minor wear to extremities and a few traces of fore edge spotting; otherwise a very good clean set. Illustrated by 53 coloured plates. A systematic account of the life histories of over four hundred bird species, which the author admits to the Sussex list. It should be noted that species described (e.g. Moustached Warbler) include some of the 'Hastings Rarities,' whose inclusion in the British list at that time was shown in 1962, to be the result of fraud perpetuated by a Hastings taxidermist, who imported specimens from abroad.
