Bound in olive green cloth, gilt, with decorative gilt block on front board. Rough cut edges. A few pages uncut. Minor wear and light sunning, but otherwise a very good copy. Signatures of W. R. McConnell on front endpapers. Illustrated throughout by engravings, including frontispiece, title page and whole page in text. Decorated by half title, scene heading and tailpiece vignettes, by initials, by some black letter type and by printer's colophon. Decorated endpapers with ex libris design. With a long introduction by Israel Gollancz (1863-1930), Shakespeare scholar and Professor of English Language and Literature at King's College, London, 1903-30. Illustrated by Robert Anning Bell, RA (1863-1933), artist and designer who taught at the Glasgow School of Art and later the Royal College of Art, and designed mosaics for the Palace of Westminster.
