Deckled edges (see note loosely inset). Slight lower edge sunning of boards, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 4 pages of colour plates and by 37 black and white photographic text figures and 2 maps, including whole page. Book Club edition of title first published in the US 1974. The story of the Comanche people, who used the power of the horse to conquer the plains. They were overcome by the Texas Rangers and US Army in the mid-nineteenth century, being centred on Texas and the Indian Territory.
